Aadhar Card Is Mandatory for Free LPG connection in Prime Minister Ujjwala Scheme
Pradhan Mantri ujjwala yojana was launched in May 2016. The government has made the aadhar card compulsory for having free cooking gas (LPG) connection under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Scheme. Under this scheme, free gas connection is given to poor women. Government has launched this scheme in May last year.
Before that, the government has made aadhar card as mandatory document for getting LPG subsidy in October last year. Nearly 92 percent population of country already has their aadhar card.
Petroleum Minister Has Released This Notification
- It has been said in the notification released by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry that “the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Ujjwala Scheme will have to provide their aadhaar number or aadhar authentication”.
- As per the notification, it is said that “To take the free LPG connection scheme benefit, BPL women who still do not have the Aadhar number are required to apply for the aadhar till 31st May.
- After enrolling yourself for the aadhar card, the beneficiaries can apply for the Free LPG connection by giving their Enrollment ID slip or copy of it.
- With this application form, the beneficiary must have to provide one of the official ID proof documents, like copy of bank photo passbook, election voter ID card, ration card copy, PAN card, passport, driving license, farmer’s photo passbook or certified photo id proof by gadgeted officer on his letterhead.
- Petroleum Ministry has asked government fuel retailing companies to provide an enrollment facility for the UID.
- Till now Government is providing 12 cylinders of having 12.2 kg each year on subsidy basis to each family.
- Subsidy of each cylinder is transferred directly to the Account of Beneficiary holder. Firstly families have to take LPG gas cylinder on market rate.
What Is Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana
- This scheme was launched in May last year by Our PM. Under this scheme, the central government had set a target to give free LPG gas connections to the 5 million BPL families means those people come in this category who are below poverty line.
- The target has been set to complete this scheme in next three years. Means in coming financial Year 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19. About 8,000 crores budget has been kept and decided for this scheme.
- The government had already allotted the funded of Rs 2,000 crore for the Ujjwala scheme in the financial year 2016-17.
- There is a plan to give free LPG gas connections to near about 1.5 crore BPL families in this current financial year.
- Under this scheme, the central government will provide Rs. 1,600 help for getting the LPG gas connection to BPL families who lies below the poverty line.
LPG Gas Connection Is Given On Women Name
- Under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana, LPG gas connections will be given to the families on the name of women.
- The government will also provide EMI facility to fulfill the cost of supplying stoves and refilling of cylinders.
- This scheme will be jointly run by the Government of India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry.
Present Situation of LPG Connections in the Country
– According to data which we have received from March 2016, there are total 16.64 crore active LPG gas consumers present in the country. Most of these consumers are lie in urban and semi urban areas.
– India Imports 21 lakh tone of LPG means nearly import 40 percent of its need. With new connections, the import is also expected to be increase near around 50-55 percent.
Aadhar Card Is Mandatory For These Scheme Also
List of other schemes where you need to have aadhar card ready for authentication purpose are also listed below.
– Aadhar card is made necessary for getting all Central Universities Scholarship in colleges and schools. Students who are already taking scholarship in advance will have to enroll for Aadhaar card till 30th June to continue it further.
– Any citizen of country will have to give aadhaar card to get the provident fund (PF) money. However, EPFO has allowed the withdrawal of amount from the pension account without any aadhar number.
– According to the EPFO, it is not required to give the Aadhaar numbers to the members who want to withdraw the deposited amount from their pension account, as was said earlier in a notification. Members who were having less than 10 years of in service can withdraw the whole amount from their pension account. For this, they have to fill 10c forms. The members who want to fix their pension through the 10D form, they will have to provide the aadhar number or an enrollment slip.
– Now for the entrance examination, the Aadhaar card is becoming necessary. Aadhaar card has been made compulsory in JEE examinations.
– Aadhaar ID and aadhar number is made compulsory for getting Food Grains subsidy. PDS shops have also asked the people who have taken subsidized food, grains, oil and other house hold things to enroll themselves with aadhar by June this year 2017.
– According to the information received, the government is planning to mandate the UID for more than three dozen central schemes.
