New Delhi. Driving at high speed and lane violation are the main reasons of road accidents coming to light these days. The central government of India has taken a big initiative to reduce road accidents by implementing new rules. The Ministry of Transport has made it mandatory for road operating agencies to install speed limit sign boards every after 10 km on expressways and national highways on mandatory basis.

Speed Limit Sign Board On Road To be Installed

This will let the driver know how fast he can drive vehicle. Sign boards will be installed on the footpath also. The logo of the vehicle will also be provided on them.

The ministry has issued comprehensive guidelines for signage on expressways and national highways across the nation. These will come into effect after February 2025. Actually, signage and road markings are important for safe driving on roads. These are considered the language of all the road connecting places. Every driver should have good knowledge of this for safe and better driving.

No Parking signage will have to be installed every after 5 km

During road travel, people often ignore mandatory information such as speed limit, exit point and direction on highways. In view of this, the Ministry of Transport has ordered to install large signage at regular intervals on the roads. It has been said that speed limit signs should be installed every after 5 km. According to the guidelines, the agencies operating the National Highways will have to ensure the installation of “No Parking” signage every after 5 km to inform the drivers. An emergency helpline number board will have to be installed every after 5 km.

More than 1.5 lakh people die every year due to road accidents in India. Lakhs of people are seriously injured in such accident. Due to road accidents, 167593 people died in 2018, 168984 in 2019, 148383 in 2020, 163972 in 2021 and 178491 in 2022.
