Government Scheme Brings New PAN 2.0 Project
Strengthening the Digital India mission, the central government has decided to update the old PAN card. Under this, the PAN 2.0 project has been launched, in which new technical services are added like QR code and other security features will be plus. This project is a most important step taken by the Income Tax Department towards making the new registration service of taxpayer’s and such services digital and up to date with latest technology.
What is the PAN 2.0 Project?
PAN 2.0 is an updated version of the existing and old PAN/TAN 1.0 system. Under this scheme, PAN and TAN services will be integrated and operated in full digit mode. Its main aim is to provide easy and fast services experience to their taxpayers without wasting time.
PAN 2.0 will have many benefits
The government had already spent Rupees 1435 crore on this project. This will improve the quality of service and also system speed up to a mark. The whole data will be accurate and will be available at one place. Also, the complete data will be verified easily. There will be added security system called PAN Data Vault System for data security. Also, the grievance system will be improved.
What will happen to the existing PAN card?
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has clarified that the existing PAN number will not change, it means existing PAN number remain same. Taxpayers will not need to get a new PAN card number.

All existing PAN cardholders will get a new PAN card equipped with QR code and new technical features added in it. Taxpayers will not have to pay any charge for getting the new PAN card.
78 crore PAN cards already issued
